Due to demand for class seats, students who do not attend the first day of class for classes they are enrolled in will be administratively dropped and their seat assigned to another student.

Position Announcement: Visual Communication/New Media Assistant Professor faculty position

University of North Texas Department of Journalism and the Mayborn Graduate School of Journalism

ABOUT THE JOB AND QUALIFICATIONS
The University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track visual communications position at the assistant level in the Department of Journalism and the Mayborn Graduate School of Journalism.

The ideal candidate is a visual journalist who can teach in the areas of visual communication, new media design, and video photography.   The candidate must have a terminal degree (M.F.A or Ph.D.) This new position, within the changing field of photojournalism and media design, will address these evolving fields associated with convergence, the web, and use of multimedia formats.

Applicants should have excellent teaching skills and an emerging body of research/creative scholarship.

Start date is August 2008.

ABOUT OUR STUDENTS
     Ethnically diverse, UNT has a vibrant international student population and a diverse student enrollment. A colleague who can enthusiastically join the department in mentoring and providing role models for students from a wide array of backgrounds is particularly valuable.
     Because of the explosion of ethnic-minority media and increased focus on specific audiences both nationally and regionally, our ideal candidate would have the knowledge to guide our students aggressively into these markets.
     The 60-year-old journalism program, which is accredited by ACEJMC, is home to about 1,000 undergraduate and about 80 graduate students. Our alums have won eight Pulitzer Prizes. Facilities include four digital labs and a new convergence lab
